Stretchy Shapes

WOW! Even I want to do this one! This site even comes with cards to inspire ways to use the stretchy to explore shape. Can be elastics, or individual. Develop a bank of questions to investigate the names of shapes you can make with different numbers of people.

Just another idea I found.

Stinky Feet Game

I have so many ideas about how I could use this game, and not only for students but also adults and team building. There's nothing quite like a bit of fun competition to get the brain working. Really nice way to end the game with positive and negative point system.

Dance the math away!!

Great for those energetic learners. Awesome learning about place value and problem solving FAST!
The rules for the dance are at the original site. Click on picture to find out.

Mission Impossible

Yarn and tape a hallway for a "laser obstacle course". That will keep 'em busy for a couple of hours.

Got an unused space calling out for attention. This would be huge amounts of fun to help children learn self management and body awareness.

Pom Pom Popper

Marshmallow Shooter

Not sure how I feel about shooting at school. However this could teach a lot about distance, physics and construction. Check out the website for making instructions.

Marble Run

A marble run made from toilet paper and paper towel rolls.

Shift it around to make different runs. I love the idea of being magnetic so you can change it around.

Constructions

These children have used different things to create stable buildings and tall structures. The language about strength, height, team work and problem solving is inspiring.

I would also like to try using cards, straws, to challenge their thinking further. If you have any ideas please share them with a comment below.

Blocks of Wood

Providing the most basic blocks of wood can provide hours of learning fun. These boys worked together for days to figure out a way to make the tallest tower. I was amazed at the way they worked out how to get them to stack well. They surprised themselves how high they could get it to go.
They tried many different ways to make the strongest tower. Very interesting talking to them about their learning.

Newspaper Costumes

We have a new station designing and making our own costumes out of newspaper. A bit like wearable arts but done with only newspaper. They are very proud to model their learning for a photo shoot as well.

The Box

This is a great online big screen story that may ignite some imaginitis with your class of what to do at a station that had nothing but a box.

My class have used it as a turtle, car, fire engine, hinding space. The list is only as short as the imagination. The only thing was no one could draw on or cut the box in anyway.

Pulley's and Weights

A simple pulley system not only engaged concepts and thinking about weight and systems but also patience and team work. Providing a variety of things to pull up and down ignited lots of creativity in ways to use the pulley. The children told very interesting stories about what they were doing and why. A great way to integrate science and math into action stations.

Hut Construction

Providing the bare necessities to build a hut creates opportunities for team work, negotiation and problem solving skills and creative thinking. This team of builders only had a few cardborad rolls and a sheet to make a hut to play in. It inspired both girls and boys to work together. They even added extras like a camp fire for cooking and a telescope out of a gap in the wall.
